This is a very simple guide that will transform any student writing into a fabulous, embeddable, flippable, E-Book!
So where do you start? Well you need to write something first! The E-Book is just the tip of the iceberg!
In my class this was a long process of brainstorming, character description and plot development using story mountain scaffold- finally using MS Word to write up finished ‘Quests’. At least 3/4 weeks.
For every picture the students used CC licensed images-there’s several websites where you can search for these images-wikimedia is one of the best.
For the entire Book the students used Microsoft Word-For the title page it was as simple as using word art and a CC image that was then manipulated using ‘Paint’.
Each page contained 2 pictures and 2 text boxes for the story. Pupils even used the ‘call-outs’ in the autoshapes menu to add some ‘depth’ to pictures.
When the entire story was written up-it looked like this. As you can see we added a back page summary-just like a real book!
Or by using the conversion website Zamzar.com.
and upload your PDF onto the site.
Youblisher is not the only E-Book website out there-
There’s Zinepal ….
My ebook which @Chilledteaching (formally @colport) has used very successfully.
There’s also a new website called Flipsnack
Here’s my link to all the websites mentioned here
I’ve also uploaded a handout version of this post to TES resources here
Please comment if you know of any other E-Book websites that I’ve missed!Written by Julian S Wood - www.ideasfactory.me/about/"rel="author"
